The Method

I use a method developed by Integral Coaching Canada that is both rigorous and flexible. There is rigour in the coaching plan leading from current challenges to reaching the goal. There is flexibility in adjusting the method to what comes up on the journey, both parts fine-tuned to your personal needs.

KEY COMPONENTS OF THE INTEGRAL COACHING METHOD

It’s transformational

The aim is not to just incrementally increase your skill-set, to add few capacities here and there. The aim is to give you a whole new way of relating to the world. The aim is to transform the way you operate in the world.

It’s multi-dimensional

The integral method looks at the different dimensions of a human. We work with what is going on inside you (subjective realm – feelings, beliefs, emotions, meaning-making), interpersonal dimension (feeling of ‘we’, communication, culture) and structural dimension (systemic fit, ability to think and act systemically). This kind of multi-dimensional approach allows a coach to be really versatile in supporting client’s development.

It emphasizes embodiment

Cognitively understanding the nature of the challenge can be beneficial. However understanding in and of itself doesn’t necessarily mean it is easy to change behavior. E.g. understanding that constantly reacting to every email that drops into your inbox is not the most efficient way of working, doesn’t mean that it is easy to implement a more calm approach in a highly hectic environment. Emphasis on embodiment means that we will integrate the new way of functioning into your way of being (muscle memory). This happens through daily practical exercises where you will be putting new skills and approaches in practice in your life. This ensures that the change is not just mental, but in your actual being and functioning.

THE STEPS

1.We identify the situation

We explore the nature of the challenge, we will identify what is actually going on. We choose a goal that is ambitious but achievable.

2.We will set a gameplan to achieve the goal

We’ll identify an ambitious yet attainable goal, define the areas of challenge, and chunk it down to executable topics and coaching sessions, accompanied by practical exercises.

3. We train and embody

We’ll integrate your new way of being through daily practical exercises. By constantly applying new skills and approaches, the mental models will transform into a new way of being.

4. We finalize and review the progress

It is important to look back at the process, your accomplishments and challenges on the way. We’ll recap what has been achieved and map what the future may bring.

DURATION

The length of coaching can range from a few months to a year. It depends on the nature of challenge and where the person is at. The length of the program will be discussed in the first two sessions.

THE WAY WE WORK

The meetings will take place in-person or over video.
